MAC Annual Holiday Dinner

Gayle Green and United Airlines Captain Todd Decker have a conversation during Captain Decker’s presentation

The annual MAC holiday dinner went off beautifully this past Thursday. Gayle arranged a great speaker, Captain Todd Decker. Captain Decker is a pilot for United Airlines. He’s accumulated 20,000+ hours in his career.

This year we held a gift basket raffle as a fundraiser for our MAC Scholarship. The raffle raised $355 for our fund.

Dinner was excellent, as was the dessert.

If you are an aviator or an aviation enthusiast, we invite you to join the Mansfield Aviation Club.

MAC meets at 0930 on the first Saturday of each month at the Mansfield Lahm Airport Terminal building

Poker Run Flier

Mansfield Aviation Club will be hosting a Poker Run on June 26, 2021. The cost is $20 per hand, and you can play multiple hands if you wish. The airports you must visit will be manned by 0900. There will be 7 total airports to stop at, and KMFD should be your last, as that is where the prizes will be distributed. You must arrive at KMFD NLT 1600.

The participating airports are:

  • Galion (KGQQ)
  • Crawford County (17G)
  • Morrow County (4I9)
  • Knox County (4I3)
  • Shelby (12G)
  • Seneca County (16G)
  • Mansfield (KMFD)

Draw one card per hand, per airport. At the end of the run you can discard 2 cards. If you only hit 6 airports, you can only discard one card. Hit 5 airports, discard zero cards, etc.

All prizes are donated by generous MAC members and local businesses who wish to donate.
Number of prizes depends upon the number of donations.
There will be food at KMFD upon completion of the event. Donations will be accepted.

Airport Day

In 2020, COVID canceled our Airport Day event. It’s 2021 and now we have another conflict.
We always have a Car Show with our event, and our event is always held on the weekend closest to Independence Day. This year that falls on July 4.

As luck would have it, there is an Indy Car race at Mid-Ohio on July 4th weekend, so the ramp where we hold the car show will be filled with the race car drivers’ business jets, so no room for a car show.

If you’ve been up by the airport lately, you’ve noticed some construction activity. They are constructing a new hangar for Niss Aviation, and their new FBO. There are also construction projects scheduled for this summer that haven’t started yet. This will restrict our access to the apron where we usually park our planes for the event.

Moving the event forward or back on the calendar isn’t really an option for us. The gentleman who runs the car show has other car shows scheduled throughout the summer and the event coordinator for the aviation side of the event has commitments to other events he runs. Due to these issues, we must cancel our Airport Day event again this year. We will be back again in 2022 with our event.

Thank you all for your support and understanding!
